The Ice Breaker will take place on Sunday, 23.02.2025 from 7 p.m. in the “Kumpels” restaurant (in the German Mining Museum: https://www.kumpels.de). Registered participants who have signed up for the Ice Breaker will receive their conference documents there.
The opening ceremony will take place on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in room 2a of the convention center.
The company exhibition begins on Monday, February 24 following the opening ceremony (approx. 17:30). In our 30-minute “Company Slam”, the exhibiting companies will have the opportunity to briefly introduce themselves on a slide. Following the presentation, the exhibition will be opened with snacks and drinks.
The student evening will take place on Monday, 24 February 2025 and is organized by students in the Geosciences programme at RUB and supported by the DGG. To participate in the student evening, a separate registration is required for participation.
The traditional DGG Conference Dinner will take place on Tuesday, 25.02.2025 from 19:00 (admission from 18:30) in the Kolpinghaus Höntrop, Wattenscheider Hellweg 76, 44869 Bochum. Drinks will be charged individually using personal consumption cards, including refunds of unused amounts. A consumption ticket worth €10 is included in the registration price; additional tickets can be purchased on the evening. Separate registration is required to attend the Conference Dinner.
The general assembly of the DGG will take place on Wednesday, 26.02.205, from 17:00 to 19:00 in hall 2a of the convention center. DGG members are requested to attend in large numbers. Guests are welcome.
The DGG's public evening lecture will take place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, 20:00 - 21:00 at the Mining Museum. The topic is the implementation of the heat transition for the city of Bochum, in particular the use of mine water heat for Mark 51°7. Further information on the title of the lecture and the name of the speakers will be published here.
The Meet & Greet breakfast for female scientists will take place for the ninth time this year. The aim of the event is to offer a platform for mutual exchange. Female students will have the opportunity to meet professionally advanced female geophysicists and get to know different career paths in a personal conversation. The breakfast will take place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. in the event center. Separate registration is required for participation. The number of participants is limited to approx. 50 people.
On Wednesday, 26.02.2025 from 13:00 - 14:00 the “Lunch-Seminar Career Perspectives” will take place. Geophysicists will present examples of their careers in the field of geophysics and will be available to answer questions. Registration is required for participation. A contribution towards expenses of €5 is charged for participation.
A Lunch'n'Learn will take place on Thursday, February 27 from 13:00 - 14:00. The aim of this event with a keynote speech and lunch is to network young geoscientists in order to promote exchange on both a professional and personal level. Registration is required for participation. A contribution towards expenses of €5 will be charged for participation.
The working groups and committees of the DGG have the opportunity to meet during the annual conference. Seminar rooms will be made available for this purpose. Those responsible are requested to notify dgg2025@rub.de of their requirements by 24.01.2025, stating the date, the expected number of people and any technical equipment required.
